Denise loses a stone and a half and 5 inches off her waist at 56!
"I have suffered from back pain for many years, from falling off too many horses and I believe the exercises I do now have helped enormously and to the point where I don't need to visit my chiropractor anymore."
At 56, Denise lost a stone and a half and has dramatically improved the quality of her life with her newfound strength and fitness and it's the best her back has felt in years.
1. What made you start personal training at SAF?
I made a decision in September 2017 to get my fitness and weight sorted out with the added incentive of my son's wedding in April 2018 and having tried mainstream gyms, classes and diets in the past, I wanted to try a different approach.
I literally googled Personal Trainers in my area and it brought up 3 which I contacted. Sean Armstrong Fitness was the only one who got back to me promptly and followed up with a phone call asking what I wanted to achieve rather than what they wanted to promote. I felt that I was being consulted rather than being told which was reassuring that Sean had my goals in mind, rather than just my monthly subscription.
2. Can you describe how you were feeling physically and mentally before coming to SAF?
I was feeling very unfit and my only exercise was walking the dogs every day. I was very unhappy with my weight and subsequently my appearance, so instead of whining about it, I decided to take some positive action to make a lifestyle step change and take back control of my exercise and diet regime.
3. What did you want to achieve with SAF?
I wanted to improve my fitness, strength, lose 2 1/2 to 3 stones in weight and tone up in the process. I felt that my self-esteem had also suffered since I'd let things slide and it was important for me to regain this too.
4. What results have you seen whilst Personal Training with SAF?
So far I have lost 1 1/2 stones and maintained this weight loss. I have lost 3 inches off my chest, 5 inches off my waist and an inch off both my calves and thighs. I can lift a 32kg kettlebell which is a big achievement for me as when I first walked through the gym doors I struggled to lift a
6kg dumbbell effectively. My strength, stamina, general feeling of fitness and wellness have all greatly improved and I have met some very interesting individuals too, there's never a dull moment in training. I have suffered from back pain for many years, from falling off too many horses and I believe the exercises I do now have helped enormously and to the point where I don't need to visit my chiropractor anymore. I am now looking to lose the remainder of the weight to reach my goal, however, I have learnt that it's not just the scales that matter and after seeing such a vast improvement to my body shape and fat loss I am not so scales orientated. I am not where I want to be yet but I have made significant progress which is brilliant.
5. Would you recommend SAF and why?
I would and have recommended Sean Armstrong Fitness to people looking to lose weight and/or get fitter/stronger, it's a no-nonsense gym with a straight-talking and highly qualified owner/trainer and it ticks all my boxes!
